The star has handed over the complete sum of his twenty-five thousand pound award prize money to the MVT, which works to preserve the United Kingdom's small concert spaces.

Fender was given the prize on mid-October as his third album the album was chosen as the top album of the last 12 months.

The musician has decided to give the cash to the Music Venues Trust, in recognition of the essential function local spots had in his beginning days.

"I personally couldn't be pursuing this success if it hadn't been for all the performances I did around the area, and elsewhere, when I was beginning," remarked Fender. "These locations are renowned, but they are in difficulty."

Since the start of 2023, at least 150 of these locations have ceased operations – approximately one-sixth of the entire UK sector.

Recently, well-known musicians such as Pulp, Coldplay, Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all aided the Music Venues Trust in its initiatives to help venues survive, by adding a minor surcharge to their ticket prices, which benefits local stages.

Sam Fender also took part, raising more than £100,000 on his 2024 arena tour to help thirty-eight local spots across the UK.

The money supported venues that were confronting possible closure due to challenges caused by flooding, fires and bereavements, as well as licensing issues, legal disputes and neighbor objections.

Other venues obtained funding support in upgrading amenities and gear that directly benefitted artists and concertgoers.

"The concept that revenue from performances in big venues helps the independent spots, where it begins for musicians like me, is just sensible," Fender has commented.

He is far from the only musician to give his award prize money to charitable organizations.

Back when the band earned the trophy in the mid-90s for their album their work, lead singer the singer stated that the act would donate their winnings to the charity the charity.

In 2002, musician she divided her bounty across several good causes, like the NSPCC and a Sickle Cell organization.

"And I donated a thousand pounds to Highgate Newtown, to their gymnastics class, because I did gymnastics when I was younger and they required better apparatus," the artist told the media.

In recent years, Ezra Collective contributed their prize money to the local youth club that supported their act, in addition to other local music groups.

Also 1994 winners they donated their winnings to a multiple sclerosis charity after a close contact was identified with the condition.

"Receiving the award was sufficient," said vocalist Small. "The cash was the bonus but we didn't require the cherry, because we had the cake. So our success affected somebody else's life."

Last week, the MVT announced it had rescued a couple of grassroots venues in south-east England, by transferring them to community ownership.

One venue in the city and the other in Bristol were acquired under the public acquisition initiative, which is funded by a national body and enthusiasts who purchase "ownership units" in the properties.
