Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 championships have been earned on hard surfaces

A revitalized the Russian player claimed his first trophy for 882 days with victory over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open final.

Medvedev, a former top-ranked player, has endured a challenging season, achieving just one match at the big events and undergoing a setback at the American major.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serving in especial - resulted in him dropping out of the world's top 10 and eventually splitting with long-term trainer Gilles Cervara.

Presently working with Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has steadily progressed in the last few weeks - culminating in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

This marks the player's initial championship following the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard court from March of the previous year.

Victory also means the Russian has achieved twenty-one victories at 21 different competitions.

"For the first time I'm at a competition with my children together, so to get a title is really nice," commented tennis professional Medvedev.

"This victory is in dedication of my second daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I achieved when my first daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his past six championship matches, featuring in the German tournament in the past months.

The player's retrieving play style and recurring emotional displays on court had prompted commentators to question if his capacity to compete at the top level was over.

However the player has altered his approach in the last few weeks, making an effort to advance forward and play aggressively, reinforced by an improved serve.

The champion came back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the difficult opponent, winning four of the final five points to gain the advantage.

Both players traded break points in the following set before Moutet, attempting for his initial ATP Tour title, gained dominance to force a third set.

Moutet saved 4 initial opportunities in a close deciding set before the champion secured a break to 15 to secure the win.

Suitably, the winner clinched victory with a point at the net area, with Moutet incapable to handle a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
